Russian Dating Scams And How To Avoid Them

As the number of men looking for Russian women to date and eventually marry increases, the number of scam artists out to take advantage of them goes up as well. Learning to differentiate honest women looking for love from these scammers is essential.

Most Russians looking for love through internet dating sites are honest and have well intentions, just like the men from other countries seeking them out. Yet, a great thing can be ruined by a few dishonest people running Russian dating scams if you are not careful. Fortunately, most Russian dating scams can be identified before you fall victim to them if you understand what to look out for.

Initial Contact

If you have your profile on a Russian dating website, you should look more carefully at women who make the initial contact with you first. Most of these will turn out to be women who simply found you interesting or handsome and wanted to get to know you more, but one of them may be involved with Russian dating scams. They tend to make the initial contact with targeted men first, because this allows them to hand pick men they think are more likely to fall for the scam. This gives them more power in the deal as well, since they know what you want and can play all the cards to get you to go for the scam.

Russian dating scams often appear to be extremely attractive women who are instantly attracted to you. She will seem to be the perfect woman, possibly striking you as too good to be true. This is how a scam artist gets so many intelligent men to fall into the trap. The men think they are talking to a beautiful young lady, and often these men fall in love with the person they think they are communicating with in the end.

Realizing that scam artists usually work by initiating contact with you in this manner can help you stay on alert until you know a woman is a legitimate member looking for love.

Quick Love

Another sign of Russian dating scams is the beautiful young lady almost immediately saying she is head over heels in love with you. It is not uncommon for two people meeting through the internet to develop feelings rather quickly, but a woman who sends you two or three emails then claims she is ready to leave her whole life and run off with you should be questioned a little further. Most Russian women are not going to immediately spill all their feelings and beg you to send them money so they can come to your country. If you understand a little how the process actually works you are less likely to fall into the trap of a scam.

It actually takes time for two people to get to know one another on a more personal level and for a woman to decide she is in love and wants to move away from her home. If you have told a woman very little about yourself or your life and she is ready to move to your country there is reason to be careful.

Travel Money

You can bet you are dealing with Russian dating scams if the claim of devoted love is accompanied or shortly followed by a request for money so that she can travel to your country. Skilled scam artists will talk about how she would love to come to your country and marry you, if only she had the money for the flight. She will just talk about needing the money, allowing you to offer to send her money. This way you feel it is your choice and she has not asked for a thing, when it was actually a set up to get you to offer the money.

You do not need to question every Russian woman you meet as if you are the police, but do keep your eye open for any sign that the woman you are dealing with may actually be working Russian dating scams.
